What is Alloy

Alloy is an application installer for restricted macOS. It is a simple command line tool that installs applications on macOS.

Features

  • 🥳 Run without root privileges
  • 🥳 Install applications with a single command ( alloy install <app-name> )
  • 🥳 Support third-party applications (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Spotify etc.)

Installation

Requirements:

To install Alloy:

deno run -A --unstable https://deno.land/x/alloy@v0.0.9/install.ts

Tp update alloy:

alloy update-self

To uninstall Alloy:

deno uninstall alloy

Usage

Help

alloy --help
alloy -h

Installing applications

To install an application:

alloy install <app-name>

For example:

alloy install chrome

Supported applications

  • Spotify
  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • NextDNS (Not yet)
  • Keka
  • Visual Studio Code (Not yet)
  • Figma (Not yet)
  • UTM (←NEW!!)
  • Free Download Manager (←NEW!!)

Uninstalling applications

To uninstall an application:

alloy uninstall <app-name>

For example:

alloy uninstall chrome

Undmg

Undmg is a command line tool to extract DMG files.

alloy undmg <dmg-file>

Bribe

Bribe is a command line tool to bypass the macOS Gatekeeper.

alloy bribe <app-path>
